HUB

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is committed to increasing business opportunities to various underutilized businesses within the community. Benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Increasing competition
  • Promoting innovation
  • Providing multiple procurement channels for goods and services
  • Enhancing the agency’s interest and commitment to the economic growth of the community

The agency shall make a good faith effort to utilize Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB’s) for goods and or services. Businesses will be canvassed and considered through available resources from the City of Houston, Harris County, community organizations and approved Centralized Master Bidders List (CMBL) with the State of Texas. Communication between public procurement professionals and vendors is encouraged. The Purchasing Department shall make every effort to ensure and maintain a fair opportunity for vendor competition and to avoid any appearance of favoritism.

Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) Certification

The State of Texas actively promotes the use of Historically Underutilized Business vendors for all governmental entities and agencies. The State Comptroller’s Office has more information about the HUB Program.

HUB Certification is free and offers more opportunities to work with government agencies.
